Purpose of Research

Research material are placed in Special Collections area in order to preserve them for future use. Materials include rare or aged books, manuscripts or other unusual non-textural items. These materials require special storage, handling, and security. We request that you participate in the preservation of our holding by adhering to the following procedures:

1. Deposit materials unnecessary for research outside the reading area. Lockers are provided.
2. Smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed in the area.
3. Maintain the order of manuscript materials.
4. Avoid stacking books or heavy objects on any materials.
5. Report damage or disarrangement to the staff.
6. Use only pencils.

It is the researcher's responsibility to conform to all legal provisions such as literary rights and copyright affecting the materials used. The Library will  not be responsible for the researcher's infringement of any such laws.

The form of citation for manuscript and non-textural materials should be: [Title of Collection or Identification of materials], Special Collections Division, The University of Texas at Arlington Libraries, Arlington, Texas.
