College. Glenn Martin writes December 14, 1908, that he cannot be a Christian
"in every sense of the word," then follows up with a note January 25,
1909, that he and six others experienced a conversion at a church meeting; Elmer
Edwards, from New York, March 11, 1909, compares sociability of Southerners with
coldness of New Yorkers.
- Correspondence, 1910. Two letters from Decatur to Burleson: W. C. Carver,
president of Decatur Baptist College, on September 4 encourages Brister and his
sisters to return to the school; Hallie, a classmate on debate team, inquires on
October 12 if Brister will be back for spring semester.
- Correspondence, 1911. Three letters to Brister at Decatur Baptist College
including one from girlfriend Ysleta on February 21 and another from Burleson
friend named Knox on February 25 musing about girls, school, and the future.

- R. H. Brister labeled this album "R. H. Brister – family, father’s
family and relatives." Brister pasted primarily black and white
snapshots and some portraits into this newer album, intermingling old and
new, depicting the many aspects of his life going back to his early teaching
days in Ennis, 1914. His days in the Army, after Army discharge, at Baylor
University, in Taylor and Waco are all found here. There are many views of
his parents, Moses Andrew and Sudie Clark Brister, at various ages ranging
from circa 1900 through the 1950s. Brister relatives, reunions, and
ancestral homes are also included. Ruby Neal Brister is prominently featured
during courtship and after marriage as is his growing family. More recent
color snapshots feature grandchildren and U.S. travel.

- 1890 Born August 24, 1890, on a Johnson County farm, a few miles west of
Burleson; one of nine children born to Moses Andrew Brister and Sudie Clark
Brister.
- 1892 Ruby Irene "Bob" Neal born in Weatherford, the daughter of
A.W. Neal and Bettie Eddleman Neal; graduate of Memphis (Texas) High School;
two years at Conservatory of Music, Amarillo; later attends Toby's Business
College, Waco; bookkeeper at Taylor bank.
- 1910 Graduates Burleson High School.
- 1912 Graduates Decatur Baptist College (now Dallas Baptist University).
- 1912-1913 Teaches math in Miles, Texas.
- 1913-1914 Teaches math at Ennis, Texas; attends Baylor University during
summers.
- 1914-1916 Ennis High School principal.
- 1916-1917 Baylor University, Bachelor of Arts degree; Senior Class
President; President, Boys Literary Society; President of a Sunday School
organization; debate team.
