EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION COMMITTEE MINUTES, FEB. 8, 1996

All members present except Patty Grubaugh.

First item discussed was the Spring Reception. Shirley Sheets will check on the date of the University's Award Reception. We need to have ours after the University's in order to receive our pins from Office of Human Resources. (Shirley found out the date for their reception is March 29th, 1996) Bobbie Johnson will send out a call for the Star nominations sometime this month. Discussion followed as to which awards should be considered for the Star Award. Those were the Bright Ideas Awards and the Applause Awards, as well as any nominations we receive from Bobbie's call message.

We discussed the handicap entrance to the back of the Library and tabled awarding anything on this. This idea has been around for twenty years or more and mentioned by many people.

Shirley Sheets had just been to Dean's Council and she shared with us that President Witt does indeed read our Newsletter. He commented on the article about Ginny Pinkerton's Bright Ideas Award and the money saved by the Library. He liked the recognition part as well as the savings and encouraged all departments to follow suit.
