MINUTES EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION COMMITTEE Meeting of Tuesday, December 3, 1996

Present: Shirley, Jane, Patty, Noel, Iris.

1. We convened at 10:00 am and discussed some inquiries about nominations that members had received.
2. We had one possible nomination for the Administrative Leave award but had to table that discussion until more documentation could be received. Iris will email an interested party to clarify this situation.
3. We discussed the criteria for the Applause Award. Actually, we were having difficulty with some of the award criteria. We decided that it would be advantageous to amend the committee's purpose statement regarding the Applause Award to include outstanding service on a library committee. We felt that this was an important distinction to make because staff members do contribute a great deal to the library through committee work and some provide such service above and beyond typical committee participation. Shirley R. will check with Shirley S. to see who has the authority to amend the purpose statement.
4. We then discussed a nomination for the Applause Award and voted on it. We approved this nomination.

Our meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:30 am.
