Minutes Employee Recognition Committee Meeting Tuesday, October 7, 1997Present: Noel Anderson, Iris Carroll, Kim Dessalegn, Daniel Jappah, and Laura Blessing. The Committee convened at 11:00 am in Tom Wilding’s office. This was our first meeting for the academic year. We began by reviewing the committee charge for the new members. We then elected a new chair, Iris Carroll, and a new recording secretary, Sarah Jones. We set the dates for our meetings this year. We will meet at 11:00 am on the following dates: November 4, December 2, January 13, February 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, and August 4. If we have no nominations to discuss or business to address we will not meet. Laura Blessing will schedule a room for our meetings. Having completed this business we discussed launching an initial PR campaign this year. Kim will send out an “all” email message; Noel and Laura will work on a poster, and Daniel will write a notice for the next issue of the Shelf Life. We had one nomination for an Applause Award. We voted on it and it was approved unanimously. Laura Blessing will draft the letter for Tom to deliver at the October 14 staff meeting. Iris will need to check with Shirley regarding an Applause Award pin to award at that meeting. We began discussing the awards pictures and the efficacy of continuing to display them in the traditional manner. We decided that the traditional manner, as opposed to a digital picture scanned into a PowerPoint presentation, was best. We decided, however, that we needed a Display Coordinator on the committee who would be responsible for the displays. Hopefully this arrangement would free Kit Goodwin from having to create the displays. Noel Anderson volunteered for this position. Iris will contact Shirley Rodnitzky to pass on the folder from last year and have an orientation to the Chair responsibilities. The meeting adjourned at approximately 11:40 am.
