EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION COMMITTEE MEETING October 5, 1998Attending: Blessing, Howser, Jones, Madison, May Blessing called the meeting to order and welcomed incoming members-- Madison, May, and Howser. Laura briefed new members on how the committee operated and described the awards under the domain of the Employee Recognition Committee. Jones was elected Chair and Howser elected as recorder. Discussion pursued on the display case and responsibilities thereof. Blessing volunteered to be responsible for the logistics of getting the awardee’s (awardees) photograph(s) displayed in the cases. Timeliness of awardees photos being made was addressed. Blessing will contact Goodwin about getting Chen to assist with mounting the photographs and text on materials supplied by Special Collections. The Committee will create a presence on the Web acknowledging the Libraries’ awardees. PowerPoint slides for Central Library monitors was discussed. The Libraries has a digital camera, which the Committee can use. The Committee will be responsible for the text and markup with assistance from Jones’ Web expertise. Members will rotate this responsibility. Three nominations for the Applause Award were discussed. Two were approved and one was tabled for more pending more information. May will prepare the draft nomination letters for the two approved nominations and also get information on the one nominations tabled. The Outstanding Student Assistant Award was discussed. A call for nomination will be sent out twice a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring. The Fall award will be presented at the Christmas luncheon, the Spring award will be presented at the Spring reception. Blessing will issue a call for nominations via an email message. A flyer may also be distributed. The Committee will meet on the first Monday of each month at 10:30 am in the Administrative Conference room. Madison will schedule these. If there are no agenda items, Jones will send out a message cancelling the meeting. The meeting adjourned at ca. 11 am. Respectfully submitted, Barbara Howser |
