EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION COMMITTEE MEETING May 12, 2003

ATTENDING: Loretta Barker, Linda Depken, Sarah Jones, Rachel Robbins. Invited guest for the policy discussion: Julie Alexander
ABSENT: Anne Mitchell

AWARDS REVIEWED: Reviewed nominations for Applause Award and voted to recommend both awards. Sarah will prepare the recommendation letters.

The rest of the meeting was taken up with a discussion that had been tabled at the last meeting. This was a discussion of policy issues including the role of the ERC with regard to the Libraries’ recognition activities, whether the current awards system accomplishes what it should/needs to accomplish, whether the current awards system is fair, and related topics.

Discussion led to a decision to pursue surveying staff on recognition topics. Further discussion of this general topic will continue through the summer.
