The Information Services staff of the UT Arlington Library will be leaders in instruction and reference user services which others look to for guidance, innovation, and best practices. Excellent customer service is our basic and most important characteristic. In addition, we will:
  • Be innovative and learn from our successes and failures
  • Support the pursuit of lifelong learning for ourselves and our patrons
  • Be the primary Library ambassadors advocating the Library as the heart of the University community
  • Be prepared to instruct, educate, and support our patrons to be knowledgeable users of information
  • Anticipate and respond to the changing needs of our patrons

In addition to providing reference service through multiple service points, both physical and virtual, our  liaison librarians work as principal contacts for each department and program we serve. Your liaison is a specialist in library resources and services for your discipline, and is ready to help with any questions you may have about using the Library.   Services library liaisons may provide include:

  • Consultation on questions related to publishing your research (e.g., identifying target journals, copyright concerns, measuring research impact, open access publishing)
  • Customized instructional sessions and course web pages for students (e.g., hands-on training in using specific databases in your subject area, using Web of Knowledge for cited reference searching, evaluating websites)
  • In-depth reference consultations—in our office or yours! (e.g., help with strategy and database choices, setting up your own alerts)
  • Help with library services and policies (e.g., faculty resource delivery, proxy borrower cards, borrowing books from other libraries, course reserves, etc.)
  • Set up email alerts to tell you about new articles matching your topic criteria and tables of contents of your favorite journals
  • Citation verifications
  • Assistance with purchase requests of library materials
  • Provide support for accreditation review processes, new academic programs, grant proposals, and promotion and tenure
  • In-depth orientation for new faculty, staff, graduate students, and project and research assistants
Locate the subject librarian for your department.  Please feel free to contact me or your liaison with any questions you may have about the Library.
