GRADUATE RESEARCH SEMINARSGraduate students, need help with library research or a refresher in research survival skills?  Then come to one of the Graduate Research Seminars and see database demonstrations and have hands-on searching time with the subject librarian(s).

UTA CENTRAL LIBRARY TO OPEN 24 HOURS FIVE DAYS A WEEK - The UTA Central Library will be open 24 hours a day from Sunday through Thursday starting Jan. 13, the first day of the spring semester. The library will be open and staffed around the clock from 9 a.m. Sundays to 8 p.m. Fridays. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Extended hours are offered only at Central Library and only to the UTA community. A security officer will be on location each night, and a MavExpress card will be required for admittance after midnight. Non-UTA users will be asked to leave at that time. Services such as circulation, course reserves and interlibrary loan pickup will be available during the late night hours. Library laptops may be checked out, and Sam's Click Internet Café will be open for computer use.


Database Info:  

New:  BioOne:  A current collection of over 50 online, full-text journals in the subject areas of biology, ecology and environmental sciences.  Most are peer-reviewed serial publications of smaller scientific societies with coverage beginning in 2000. Journals are searchable as a group or by individual titles.  Full-text articles are available in PDF and can be viewed using the Adobe Acrobat® Reader.

Spotlight:   International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences This landmark 25 volume encyclopedia presents thousands of articles that address topics within fields such as: Anthropology, Archaeology, Clinical Psychology, Community Psychology, Crime and Criminality, Demography, Developmental Psychology, Economics, Gender Studies, Geography, Health, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Justice Studies, Management, Motivational/Emotional Psychology, Personality Psychology and Self, Political Science, Psychiatry, Social Psychology, Sociology, and Urban Studies.

Distance Learning

Do you plan on teaching a distance learning class during the coming semester? To help your students find research-related items more easily, contact your subject librarian to develop a webpage specifically tailored for course needs. It can include links to individual articles for course readings, relevant webpages, instructions for accessing online resources from your home, and more.

Laptop computers are available for UTA faculty, staff, and students to check out at the Circulation Desk. The laptops are for use ONLY in the Library. They may be borrowed for a three hour period and are available on a first-come first-serve basis.
To place items on reserve, you may use either the print or online course reserves form. Allow approximately one week for reserve items to be processed.  E-reserves must comply with copyright policy.
