• ResearchResearch replaces SPINplus database. 
  The UTA Office of Grant and Contract Services is no longer providing the SPINplus database for information on grant and funding opportunities. It has been removed from the Libraries' web listings of databases.
  
  Instead, they are now providing ResearchResearch, a source for information on U.S. and international funding opportunities and news on research policy and politics. Opportunities can be browsed by sponsor, by discipline, type of sponsor, purpose of award, by deadline, eligibility, and so on.
   
• AIAA Journals accessible via the online catalog. 
  On the pages you can see the current Tables of Contents, access previous Tables of Contents, and access the Electric Library.

• IEEE offers free online training in the IEEE Xplore database:
  Are you getting the most from your research? IEEE holds monthly "Searching with IEEE Xplore" online training events, offering tips on searching the IEEE online collection and maximizing the potential of the IEEE Xplore delivery platform. Session dates for February and March have just been announced. These free online events require a high-speed Internet connection and a voice line. Space is limited, and advance registration is required, so sign up now at: www.ieee.org/products/onlinepubs/form/free_training_form.html
   

• Engineering Village 2 database has some exciting new enhancements:
  Engineering Village 2 provides access to Compendex, Scirus (web site abstracts), U.S. and European patent databases, CRC Press handbooks, and industry specs and standards. New features include the following: 
   

  • The “Easy Search” tab consists of a single 'Google-like’ search box, which connects to the Compendex database. The list of results is accompanied by a sidebar that allows you to refine searches further by author, controlled vocabulary terms, publisher, etc.
     

  • By default, Compendex sorts search results by "relevance." You can also re-sort search results by date, author, source, or publisher.
     

  • Other resources linked through Engineering Village 2 (including IHS Standards, GlobalSpec, Scirus, USPTO, etc.) can now be accessed via a list of “More Search Sources.” This appears at the bottom left side of the Quick Search and Expert Search search screens.

  Electrical Engineer’s Reference Book

  The classic single-volume reference source for a wide range of practicing electrical power engineers and students, this 16th edition includes a major new section on control systems, PLCs and microprocessors.

  For ease of use, this edition has been divided into the following subject sections: general principles; materials and processes; control, power electronics and drives; environment; power generation; transmission and distribution; power systems; sectors of electricity use.
