About SEL
The Science
& Engineering Library (SEL) is located in the basement of Nedderman
Hall (Room B03). SEL houses materials in biology, chemistry, mathematics,
and physics for the College of Science and
all areas of engineering (biomedical, civil & environmental, computer
science, electrical, industrial & manufacturing systems, materials science
amd mechanical & aerospace) for the College
of Engineering. SEL also provides outreach service to the UTA/Fort
Worth Campus and the Automation and Robotics
Research Institute (ARRI).
HISTORY
of SEL
Science and Engineering was originally located on the third floor of
the Central Library. In the
mid-1980s, plans were being made for a new Engineering Building, which would
hopefully include space for a Science and Engineering Library. On October 8,
1988, Engineering II was dedicated. In
January of 1989, the Science and Engineering Department moved from the Central
Library to Engineering II and the new Science and Technology Branch Library.
This appears to be the first library on campus to contain compact
shelving. In 1991, Engineering II
was renamed Nedderman Hall in honor of Wendell H. Nedderman.
Nedderman came to Arlington State College in 1959, as the first Dean of
engineering and in 1972, became President of the University of Texas at
Arlington.
General News
Our Group Study Room (GSR) provides an excellent place for students to
study with fellow classmates and/or work on assigned projects. The GSR is
located adjacent to the copier room, comfortably seats eight and has an erasable
marker board. The GSR Policy
requires reservations be made to use the study room for a maximum of two
consecutive hours per group. UTA IDs are required for use of the room.
Reservations are made at the Circulation Desk.
To put books and homework solutions on reserve for your students, contact Connie Eley @ ext. 4518 or eley@uta.edu. Check Reserves Services for more information. When resources aren't available in the UTA Libraries' print, microform or electronic collections, use Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services.

New Books
This new
books list specifically pertains to SEL disciplines and is updated bi-monthly. To see other new books added to the general library
collections, click on the "New
in PULSe" tab when searching PULSe,
the online catalog. Then, you can select and/or limit by Location:
(Central, SEL, AFA, Special Collections), Display: (last week, last 2 weeks,
last 3 weeks, last 4 weeks), or Sort by: (call number, author or title).
Sorting by call number is recommended when looking for books on specific
disciplines. See Call
Numbers, to know more about call number classification on specific science
and engineering disciplines.
E-Journals
The electronic
journals page, only includes links to collections containing full text
journals available electronically. The UTA Libraries subscribe to many other
journals and magazines which are available in the Libraries. Consult the Online
