Class Syllabus:
Can you believe it - Spring semester
is almost over!! Planning your
Summer and/or Fall 2002 courses? Students need help in their library research for class assignments. Where did I see the librarian's name that would help me, they
ask? That's right, on my professor's ONLINE
SYLLABUS!! Help us help your students understand the library resources, by
including our name and contact information on your print or online class syllabus.

The UTA Libraries currently has a
trial
run of this Internet Database Service. Gateway to the Aerospace Database, METADEX, Corrosion Abstracts, Polymer Library, WELDASEARCH, and CSA’s Computer Information and Technology Collection including Computer & Information Systems Abstracts, Computer Abstracts International Database, Internet & Personal Computing Abstracts, and Softbase. CSA's reputation preceeds it. They have been publishing abstracts and indexes to scientific and technical research literature for over 30 years. The trial ends April 30. |

With RefWorks,
you can create your own personal bibliographic database by importing
references from online databases. You can also use these references when
writing papers, and automatically format the paper and the
bibliography. In order to use
RefWorks, sign
up to create your own account. If you'd like a demonstration,
please contact Barbara Howser at howser@uta.edu.
The trial period ends April 30. |

IEEE has added some new features to the Xplore database:
For further details, see the Webpage about IEEE Xplore Release 1.4 |
||
This is a multidisciplinary database that provides abstracts and references to literature covering all issues of air, land, water, and noise pollution as well as bacteriology, ecology, toxicology, risk assessment, environmental engeering, environmental biotechnology, waste management, and water resources. Environmental policy and regulations are given significant coverage, as are U.S. environmental impact statements. Indexes journals from 1981 to the present and is updated monthly.
ingenta
is a library gateway
for searching a database of 11,000,000 citations from 20,000+ journals.
1985-present. Incorporating the former UnCover document delivery and Reveal
services, ingenta provides access to journal article citations, summaries,
document delivery, and selected full-text of over 25,000 journal titles in all
subject areas. Search Medline as well as the combined ingenta/UnCover
collections. Former UnCover users can log in and place orders using their
previous UnCover profile ID and can continue to receive their UnCover Reveal
Table of Contents alerts. UTA students, faculty, and staff have access to
selected full-text of journal articles. Charges for document delivery are
subsidized for UTA faculty. One
important point to remember though regarding the subsidizing, if the individual
article costs more than $35.00, the faculty member must submit her/his credit
card information and pay for the article out of pocket.
If you would like some refresher information or explanation of this database,
please contact me.
Remember to contact me if you need library instruction sessions arranged for
your classes, research teams, etc.
