Reminders:
Don't
forget to turn in or renew semester books due: Jan. 8,
2003
Please
include my name and contact information on your print or online class syllabi,
so students know they have a contact person in the Science & Engineering
Library to help them understand library resources and/or services.
Laptop
computers are available for UTA faculty, staff, and students to check out at the
Circulation Desk. The laptops are for use ONLY in the Library. They may be
borrowed for a four hour period and are available on a first-come first-serve
basis.
To place items on reserve, you may use
either the print or online
course reserves form. Allow approximately one week for reserve items to be
processed. E-reserves must comply with copyright
policy.
Digital
Media Lab is a campus-wide
resource offering services and facilities that promote, support, and integrate
digital technologies in teaching, learning, and research at UTA. Faculty and
staff are welcome to use this self-service production and training facility to
develop multimedia and web projects. The DML serves as a
place where multimedia computer hardware and software is readily available, and
for disseminating information on technologies relating to instruction.
Distance
Learning
Assistance with DL
classes
Do you plan on teaching a distance learning class during the coming semester? To
help your students find research-related items more easily, contact your subject
librarian to develop a webpage specifically tailored for course needs. It
can include links to individual articles for course readings, relevant webpages,
instructions for accessing online resources from your home, and more.
New
Databases
Current
Research at UTA is a digital collection of UTA theses and
dissertations published in Dissertations Abstracts since 1997. This database
allows searching citations (author, title, advisor, etc.) and abstracts, viewing
24 page previews, and
downloading the full text of UTA theses and dissertations in the collection.
Current Research @ is also a gateway site for searching dissertations from other
universities published since 1997.

| Featured New Books | Author/Editor/Corporate Body | Call Number |
| Cool comfort : America's romance with air-conditioning | Ackermann, Marsha E. | TH7687 .A25 2002 |

ingenta
ingenta
is a library gateway for searching a database of 11,000,000 citations from
20,000+ journals. 1985-present. Incorporating the former UnCover document delivery and Reveal
services, ingenta provides access to journal article citations, summaries, document
delivery, and selected full-text of over 25,000 journal titles in all subject areas.
Search Medline as well as the combined ingenta/UnCover collections. Former
UnCover users can log in and place orders using their previous UnCover profile ID and can continue to receive their UnCover Reveal Table of Contents
alerts. UTA students, faculty, and staff have access to selected full-text of journal
articles.
Charges for document delivery are subsidized for UTA faculty.
One important point to remember though regarding the subsidizing, if the
individual article
costs more than $35.00, the faculty member must submit her/his credit card
information and pay for the article out of pocket.
If you would like some refresher information or explanation of this database, please contact
me.
Remember to contact me if you need library
instruction sessions arranged for your classes, research teams, etc.
