Texas Map Society Meeting
Spring on the Llano Estacado

The Spring meeting of the Texas Map Society will beheld on April 6th and 7th at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The Program Committee is currently finalizing plans for this our first meeting in the Panhandle on lands still referred to on maps as the "Llano Estacado." The area has been known more recently for fine Texas wines, and the committee is negotiating for tours of a winery or two. Texas Tech is the home of a fabulous Coronelli globe, and we will have an opportunity to view the globe and hear our own David Buisseret give a gallery talk on the 17th century map and globe maker.

The Program Committee has lined up a slate of outstanding speakers again for the Saturday sessions. (see box to the right.)

The meeting is sure to be one NOT to miss. Registration flyers will be mailed out the end of February. While you are marking calendars, be sure to note our fall meeting will be back at The University of Texas at Arlington on Saturday, October 6, 2001.
