The Texas Map
Society (TMS) was organized in November 1996 to foster the study, understanding
and collecting of historical maps and the history of cartography. Membership only requires
an interest in maps of any nature and any focus. Members support the activities of the
society and participate in special events and programs. The Texas Map Society is one
of only a few such societies in the United States and the only one in Texas.
Membership Benefits
There are two meeting a year featuring
- Presentations by map collectors, scholars, and enthusiasts
- Tours of map facilities around the state
- Workshops on preservation and conservation concerns
- Sharing of interest and expertise by members
A newsletter
- The Neatline is published for the
enlightenment and enjoyment of Texas Map Society members and the general public.
