The Fall meeting was held in conjunction with the Virginia Garrett
Lectures in the History of Cartography and coupled with a joint
meeting of the TMS and the Philip Lee Phillips Society of the Library of
Congress. The blockbuster weekend included not only two and half days of
outstanding presentations on the mapping of the Gulf of Mexico, but a
series of events, receptions, luncheons and diners.

The Spring Meeting held at The University of Texas at Tyler, Tyler,
Texas. The Friday night event, April 5th, was hosted by members Marvin and
Shirley Applewhite of Mineola who opened their home for a tour of the
grounds, dinner and a peek at their map collection.

Spring meeting held again at The University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas.
The program, from 10:00-4:00 included four sessions. In addition, Ralph
Ehrenberg of the Library of Congress gave a special presentation following the meeting in
the library's bibliographic instruction lab. He used the library's internet facilities to
demonstrated the Geography and Map Division's new web site for maps. Speakers included:

The first program and organizational meeting of the Society was November 23, 1996, from
10:00 - 4:00, on the sixth floor of Central Library at The University of Texas at
Arlington, Arlington, Texas. There were five presentations and the meeting included a tour
of UTA's Cartographic History Library. Speakers included:
