Assessment Tools

We use two main tools for assessment: Qualtrics and LibQUAL+.

Qualtrics

Qualtrics is a survey development tool that allows for easy survey creation and robust analysis of data and is now available to all UT Arlington students, faculty, and staff. Log in with your UTA NetID and password:

Some of the benefits of Qualtrics include:

  • Easier manipulation of the look and feel of surveys
  • Every UT Arlington student, faculty, and staff member has their own account so that survey results can remain private
  • Access to the administrative side of surveys can be shared with other members of the UT Arlington community (once they have created a Qualtrics account)
  • Ability to do comparative data analysis across several surveys
  • Ability to create “libraries” of questions, graphics, and messages that can be used in multiple surveys
  • Ability to manage survey distribution, monitor response rate, and automate reminders for those who have yet to complete the survey

LibQUAL+

LibQUAL+™ is a standardized survey developed by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) in collaboration with the Texas A&M University Libraries. The survey provides libraries with a method for measuring the quality of library services by examining perceptions, preferences, and expectations of faculty, students and staff. More than one thousand libraries internationally have participated in the survey since 2000.

The results for the 2005, 2007 and 2011 LibQUAL+™ can be downloaded here:

The UT Arlington Libraries uses our community feedback to add and improve upon services, spaces and collections. Service enhancements implemented based on survey results include:

  • Lengthened circulation loan periods for students and faculty
  • On-going space reallocation in the Central Library, the Architecture and Fine Arts Library and the Science and Engineering Library
  • Redesign of the Library website
  • Redesign of the Library online catalog
  • Additional computer workstations in library facilities
  • Addition of more group study rooms and spaces in all libraries
