Academic Evolution: The University Of Texas At Arlington

Arlington College opened its doors to 75 students in 1895.  Today, that number will not even fill a large lecture hall on the University of Texas at Arlington campus. From land expansion to structural development, student population growth, and academic advancement, UTA has survived eight name changes and, at times, a tenuous existence to become one of the finest academic facilities worldwide.

This exhibit included approximately 70 artifacts such as a Carlisle Military Academy (1902-1913) dress saber and scabbard, sports tickets from North Texas Agricultural College (1923-1949), and the pen used by Gov. John Connally to sign the bill moving Arlington State College (1949-1967) to the UT System.
