Celebrate Constitution Day with UTA Libraries
On Sept. 17, UTA Libraries celebrates the U.S. Constitution, one of the most important documents in American history. This founding document, signed in Philadelphia in 1787, continues to shape our republic, protect individual freedoms, and guide the nation’s system of government.
When & Where:
Wednesday, Sept. 17, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
First floor of the Central Library
What’s Happening:
- 200 Constitution-themed gift bags (first-come, first-served)
- Free pocket Constitutions for students
- A raffle for additional prizes (no need to be present to win).
Troy Black, Federal Depository Library Coordinator, shared why this celebration matters:
“I hope the event inspires students to think about the importance of our Constitution to them and their personal liberties, but also to our system of government. The Constitution is the foundation of the U.S. government and outlines the principles of democracy, the rule of law and individual rights.”
Beyond gift bags and prizes, this event is about connecting with the document that guarantees freedoms such as speech, press and religion, and ensures due process of law. It’s a chance to reflect on how the Constitution impacts your daily life as a student, citizen, and member of the Maverick community.
