Make a Difference on MavsDay: Support UTA Libraries
Do you want to help students succeed in earning a degree, give researchers the funding to make breakthroughs, or lower the cost of textbooks for entire classes? Your donation on MavsDay makes that possible. Every gift to UTA Libraries impacts the students, faculty, and researchers we serve every day.
What is MavsDay?
MavsDay takes place April 22 and is a 24-hour day of giving at The University of Texas at Arlington. Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends have the opportunity to support programs and people who shape the Maverick experience. This support opens doors for those still working toward their goals.
"People sometimes think of the Libraries as just a place to study, but what we really do is change lives," John Wang, Dean of UTA Libraries, said. "MavsDay gives our community a chance to be part of that work."
How Your Gift Helps
Your MavsDay donation directly supports the programs and resources that make UTA Libraries essential to student success, research and innovation. Here's what your gift can do:
Makes Education Affordable
- Open Access Publishing: Through Mavs Open Press, the Libraries provide no-cost publishing for scholars and open-access digital books. This removes financial barriers for readers and students.
- Open Educational Resources (OER): Our Reference, Instruction and Open Education team helps faculty create and adopt low or no cost, adaptable textbooks, videos, quizzes and learning modules. Students get materials from day one, save money on textbooks and resources, and stay engaged. Faculty can become published authors, with greater control over their curriculum.
Supports Research and Innovation
- Donations fund digital tools, collection costs, and offset publishing fees, enabling faculty and students to create and share new knowledge.
- Funding support can attract top researchers and future faculty members, strengthening UTA's academic environment.
Behind the Scenes
The Libraries' staff helps guide researchers through the research lifecycle, preserves history in Special Collections, assists faculty in redesigning curriculum, and provides spaces that turn ideas into reality. MavsDay donations sustain these essential services and allow the Libraries to grow alongside our community's needs.
