Frequently Asked Questions

How to Print with Us

Printing with us operates on a first come, first served basis and our staff is happy to help you through the process.

Step 1: Prepare Your File
Convert your document into one of the following formats:

  • PDF (Preferred)
  • PNG
  • JPEG

We strongly recommend PDF for best printing results. If you are curious why, please ask us at the desk and we’ll get into the nerdy details.

Step 2: Bring or Send Your File

Once you are at Print and Design, you can submit your file in either of these ways:

If you do not have a USB drive, you may be able to borrow one from the service desk. We recommend that you wait to send your file until you arrive to Print and Design because it will make finding your file easier and ensures that you have a copy on hand if troubleshooting becomes necessary.

Step 3: Join the Line

If there is a queue, please wait in line to get assistance.
When it is your turn, and if you need help, our staff can walk you through the entire printing process, so there is no need to stress while waiting.

If you want to maximize productivity, consider what material you want to print on, what size you would like, make sure you have gotten your file to us, or appraise the pricing chart and your MavMoney on your MavID or the information needed for the interdepartmental transfer form (IDT).
Printing services are provided on a first come, first served basis. No appointments are required.

Step 4: Tell Us About Your File

When you reach the desk let the staff know:

  • How you want to get your file to us
  • Your file name
  • The type of file you are printing
  • Any special printing needs
  • What size you want your print to be. Staff will help you choose the correct paper size and provide printing options for your project if your files height to width ratio does not match what was requested or the capabilities of our plotters. Please keep in mind that we cannot do front and back printing on the plotters or edge to edge printing. About 1/8th of an inch will be cropped from the edges of all prints.

Step 5: Choose Your Paper

Select the paper type you would like to use.

We have:

  • Matte
  • Gloss
  • Luster paper
  • Matte Canvas
  • Gloss Canvas

Step 6: Payment

Printing must be paid for using  MavMoney on your MavID. We do not accept cash or card so the only other way to pay would be through a Interdepartmental transfer (IDT) which is a UTA department paying for your print.
For MavMoney:

  • Scan the QR code near the desk to add funds
  • Review the pricing chart before printing

For IDT's be sure you have all the following information so we can fill out the form:

  • Department Name
  • Approved By
  • Printed by UTA ID Number
  • Printed by Signature
  • Department Number
  • Cost Center OR Project ID (if Project ID a statement on how the job is related to the project and the project end date is also required)
  • Approver’s UTA ID
  • Date

Additional pre-printed copies are at the Print and Design service point. The staff at the desk will fill out the bottom half of the IDT form at the time of printing.

Important Reminders

You must remain present during the entire setup and printing process.

Bring your physical MavID card. Digital copies or photos of your ID are not accepted.
