Renewals

We have different renewal policies for the different borrower and loan types. For all borrowers, there will be an overdue fine if materials are renewed after their due dates.

UTA Borrowers Renewal Instructions

Renewing Online

  • Click the box to the left of the item you wish to renew or click the Select All box if you wish to renew all items on your account. Then click the Request Renewal button.
  • The new due date will appear on the right side of the screen and the item or items will show a status of "Renewed.” If the date does not update and the status does not change contact the Circulation Desk at 817-272-3395 for assistance. Items that are already overdue cannot be renewed online.

Reasons Some Materials Can't Be Renewed

  • You have reached the maximum number of renewals for that item. Faculty are allowed two renewals; Graduate students are allowed three; Undergraduates, UT Arlington staff, and all other categories of library users are allowed two renewals.
  • The item has a Recall placed on it, meaning that another library user needs it and has asked us to set it aside for them to use when your current loan period expires. Items checked out to you can be recalled by another library user anytime and will only be able to be used by you for 30 days.
  • The item belongs to one of the Library's high-demand categories. Materials that are Bound or Current Periodicals, that are on Reserve or checked out manually from the service zone are checked out for short periods of time, cannot be renewed, and result in a higher overdue fine if returned after the due date.
  • We received incomplete information (see the information required for phone and email renewals given above), or your voicemail renewal message was difficult to understand.
