Delivery Services

The Resource Delivery team provides special retrieval and delivery services for faculty, Ph.D. students, graduate students, distance education students, and students with disabilities.

Graduate Retrieval Service

We retrieve local library research resources for graduate students via the online Library Catalog. Items are available for pick-up at the requested library service desk within two business days of request and held for 10 days. There is a limit of 10 requests per day per graduate student.

How to Use Graduate Retrieval Services

  1. Request the Item:
    • Click on the title of the item in the Library Catalog.
    • Under ‘Get It’, click on ‘Sign in,’ choose ‘UTA Sign In’ and enter your UTA email address and password.
    • Under ‘Get It’, click on ‘Request’ and choose ‘Pickup Location’ or Personal Delivery (Home or Work Address). Note: “Personal Delivery” is only available to Faculty and PhD students.
    • Fill out the form, including choosing the correct volume and issue in the note field, when applicable, and send the request.
  2. Notification and Pick-Up:
    • Requests are processed within two business days.
    • You will be notified via your MavMail when the items are available for pick-up from the Central Library, Science & Engineering Library, or West Campus Library.
    • Items will only be held for 10 days from the date of notification.

Additional Notes

  • Scanning and Copying Services are only available for Faculty and PhD students.
  • Non-Circulating or Electronic Collections: Items must be from circulating collections and not from the non-circulating or electronic collections.

Faculty and PhD Student Delivery Services

We deliver local library resources to faculty members and PhD students via the online Library Catalog or Interlibrary Loan services. Items can be delivered to your department or digital copies sent to your campus email address.

Eligibility for PhD Students

PhD students are eligible for this service if:

  • Their department will accept these deliveries.
  • They have a mailbox in the department.
  • Their ILLiad Delivery Location is set to ‘Department’.
  • ILLiad Preferred Loan Delivery Method is set to ‘Mail to Department’.

How to Use Faculty and PhD Student Delivery Services

  1. For Loans:
    • Items can be requested via the library catalog.
  2. For Articles:
    • Go to the UT Arlington Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Online system.
    • Log in using your UTA email address and password. (First-time users will be prompted to set up their interlibrary loan profile.)
    • In the Main Menu, select the “New Request” tab and choose the type of material.
    • Fill out the form in ILLiad completely and submit the request.

Processing and Delivery

  • Processing Time: Library staff will process requests and deliver the items to your department or send digital copies to your campus email address.
  • Notification: You will be notified via your MavMail when the items are available or have been delivered.

Additional Notes

  • Personal Delivery is only available to Faculty and PhD students and will not display as an option for everyone.
  • Scanning and Copying Services are only available for Faculty and PhD students.

Distance Education and Disability Delivery Services

We provide free delivery of library resources to distance education students, students and faculty with disabilities, and others via the UTA Interlibrary Loan Online System. This service includes books, journal articles, book chapters, and media. A return mailing label is provided with each loan.

Eligibility

This service is available to:

  • UTA distance education students whose residence on record is at least 30 miles from the main campus.
  • UTA Fort Worth Electronic Library users.
  • Universities Center at Dallas (UCD) users.
  • Doctoral students completing their dissertations away from campus.
  • Students in the College of Business Executive MBA program.
  • Students in the College of Nursing RN to BSN program.
  • Currently enrolled UTA students with disabilities registered with the Office for Students with Disabilities.
  • Currently employed UTA faculty, associates of the faculty, and staff with disabilities.

How to Use Distance Education and Disability Delivery Services

  1. Access the UTA Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Online System:
    • Log in using your UTA email and password. (First-time users will be prompted to set up their interlibrary loan profile.)
  2. Submit a New Request:
    • In the Main Menu, select “New Requests” and choose the type of material you want to request (e.g., books, journal articles, book chapters, media).
    • Fill out the form as completely as possible.
  3. Processing and Delivery:
    • Staff will process your requests and mail the items to your preferred address.
    • A return mailing label will be included with each loan.
    • Borrowers are responsible for any charges and fees related to overdue or lost books, including those lost in return mail. Use of mail tracking is highly recommended.

How to Request Items from Storage

We retrieve materials from the Library Collection Depository, an off-site storage facility for older and less-used books, for UTA faculty, staff, and students. A maximum of five requests per day per person is allowed.

Steps to Request Items

  1. Search for the Item:
    • Go to the UTA Library Catalog and enter the title of your desired item in the search box.
    • Identify the correct record by checking the coverage range, call number, and location information.
  2. Sign In and Request:
    • Click on the title of the item.
    • Under “Get It,” click on “Sign In” and log in using your UTA email address and password.
    • Select “Request” and choose your preferred pickup location.
  3. Pick Up:
    • You will be notified via your MavMail when the items are available for pick-up.
    • Items will be held for 10 days from the date of notification.
