Shop Room

The shop room contains a combination of manual and CAD/CAM (computer-aided design & computer-aided manufacturing) technologies that facilitate working with woods and metals.

A general shop safety training, followed by equipment-specific trainings, are required to access tools in the Shop Room.

 

Band saws are versatile machines used for making relatively accurate straight and curved cuts through a variety of materials. The FabLab bandsaw currently supports cutting of wood, foam, and some plastics.

The Bench Grinder uses an 8 in. wheel or brush and can be used to shape or refine edges of metal.

The biscuit joiner uses a shielded circular saw blade to cut a crescent-shaped pocket in wood. It is primarily used to strengthen hardwood joints by inserting a wooden "biscuit" into matching pockets during glue-up.

The CNC Plasma Cutter uses an arc of electricity to ionize a high pressure stream of gas to pierce through metals.

More than a chop saw, more than a simple miter saw, this wonderful tool can be easily adjusted to a wide variety of positions for making precise, straight cuts in wood.

This rugged hammer drill has a drill speed up to 0-2800 RPM for work in a wide variety of materials. Features include a 7.5 amp motor that gives you the power to drill through concrete, wood and steel. The comfort grip handle reduces fatigue.

The media blast cabinet is a tool used for quickly stripping paint and corrosion off of items, prepping surfaces for painting, or for texturing them as well.

This heavy duty Magnum drill is built for industrial/construction applications. It features raw power with a Milwaukee built 5.5 amp motor, 0-2,800 RPM trigger speed control, reversing.

Built for durability this oscillating multi-tool has a die cast aluminum gear housing and sealed bearings.
