Emily Clark donned many hats at the Special Collections in The University of Texas at Arlington, Central Library. Starting as an archive intern in the Summer of 2021, she continued to work as Graduate Research Assistant through Fall 2021 and Spring 2022.

“Whether I find a career with a university, museum, or library, I will bring a fantastic amount of knowledge and experience that I gained working in Special Collections.”  said Emily.

Her introduction to the scholastic world of archives has enriched her skill set. She was able to absorb the working relationship of Special Collections with the university and the impact of the outreach program the department has with scholars and the public.

“I have learned valuable archival skills and have discovered incredible sources that I have used in my studies and have shared with my classmates.” says Emily.

In her time as GRA she interacted and worked with not just the staff at Special Collection but also with those of other departments. Developing these personal and professional relationships helped her achieve her academic goals.

Emily Clark leaves a message for the future student employees “be flexible and understanding of others!”

As she looks forward to a new venture, she looks back at all the wonderful memories she created with all her coworkers. She shows appreciation for the full-time staff who created a great work environment and provided her with all the support she needed.
