Surface Tablet

Microsoft Surfaces are now available in our Tech Lending Vending Machines. These devices are set up to help you take tests or notes, write a paper, do homework, etc., if you need a computer for a short period.

Please note the following:

• The lending period is three (3) days.
• Surfaces are in a "frozen" state, meaning you can not install any software.
• If the device's battery dies or you restart the device, all data will be erased.
• Chargers are checked out separately, so don't forget to check one out when checking out a Surface.

Our Microsoft Surfaces are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and are non-renewable.

The Surface can be used outside the libraries, but the wireless equipment will only work on campus in areas with access to the UTA wireless network.

You can only borrow one Surface, tablet, or laptop at a time. The Library does not reserve Surfaces for users.

When a Surface is borrowed, the individual doing so assumes full financial responsibility for the property. Surfaces must not be left unattended at any time. Any malfunctions should be reported to staff when the Surface is returned.

Surface Use

When Surfaces are turned off and on after each circulation, Surfaces are returned to a default setting, and any work done by the user is erased.

The Library is not responsible for any files left on any Surface or for loss of or damage to a user's file during the loan period.

The Library is not responsible for computer viruses that may be transferred to or from a user's CD or DVD.

Replacement Charges

A replacement charge for damage to or the loss of a Surface and/or its peripherals will be assessed as necessary. The estimated value of the equipment is $1500. A processing fee of $35 and overdue fines will also be included.
