Planning involves creating a protocol and data management plan. Determine needs and costs around confidentiality & privacy, storage & archiving, and research collaboration.

TOOLS

• DMPTool provides guidance for the majority of federal and many non-profit and private funding agencies that require data management plans as part of a grant application. UTA guidance is provided along the way. Sign in with your NetID and password.
• When completing a DMP, visit the Data Curation Centre checklist as a handy guide.

CAMPUS RESOURCES

• The Innovation and Commercialization Office receiving and stewardship of restricted or confidential information from 3rd parties through NDAs (acquiring and storing). Contact innovation@uta.edu for assistance.
• The OIT Office of Research Support can advise you on the technology available that can support your particular study or research design and storage needs. Contact: Edward Gonzales.
• UTA Libraries Research Data Services Department assists with
  • data management considerations for a research project
  • data sources and data tool availability
  • reviewing data management plans (DMPs) for funding proposals
  Appointments can be scheduled online.
• The Office of the Vice President for Research provides extensive support regarding
  • research partnerships and funding opportunities through Pivot and UTA-funded programs, like the Interdisciplinary Research Program,
  • and regulatory issues, research ethics, and intellectual property topics.
• The Office of Regulatory Services within Research Administration provides
  • information and support on human subjects and animal subjects research,
  • training and help around the responsible conduct of research and conflict of interest, and
  • pathways to approval through the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
• The Office of University Compliance and Legal Affairs can also assist with potential legal concerns and questions regarding HIPAA.
• The Office of Grants and Contracts Services provides assistance in finding and applying for funding and with understanding the data management expectations of the funding agencies or solicitations of interest to you.
