Charge of Captain Reid, at Sacramento

The battle of Sacramento took place in Chihuahua, Mexico, where the Chihuahua Road from New Mexico intersects the Sacramento River. There Colonel Alexander Doniphan's Missouri Volunteers outmaneuvered a Mexican defensive force under the commands of Governor Angel Trias Alvarez, General Jose A. Herdia and General Jose Maria Garcia Conde. Eyewitness L.A.Maclean's image depicts the swift and unexpected charge of the Missouri Cavalry under his commander Captain John William Reid.
