Seat of War & Battles

This large-scale chromolithographed broadside depicts various events from throughout the Mexican American War. Titled "The Seat of War and Battles." It has four portraits of military figures (General Scott and General Taylor of the United States army as well as General Ampudia and General Santa Anna of the Mexican army), a map of Mexico with a historical description of events in the war, and prints of important battles with descriptions (the Battle of Monterey, the Battle of Buena Vista, Battles of Palo Alto and Resaca de la Palma, Battles of Vera Cruz and Cerro Gordo, and the Battles of Contreras and Churubusco).
