The Twelve Months Volunteer : Twig of Musquit: Species found near Vera Cruz - Natural Size

A print of a twig of musquit which is a plant found near Vera Cruz that has thorns larger than the twig it grows on. Furber included this image of the twig since he encountered it on the hill of the naval battery (as well as many of the surrounding hills and trenches) where mortar shells where fired on the city of Vera Cruz from March 22-27, 1847. [This is a page from the book "The Twelve Months Volunteer, or Journal of a Private in the Tennessee Regiment of Cavalry, in the Campaign in Mexico, 1846-7..." by author and artist George C. Furber, who compiled notes and sketches from first-hand observations on site or from additional sources. Furber includes and describes this image in his text on page 552.]
