The War Between the United States and Mexico Illustrated: Map of the Operations of the American Army in the Valley of Mexico in August and September 1847.

A topographical, lithographed map of the Valley of Mexico (with North oriented northwest) with roads leading to Guadalupe and Queretaro in the upper left corner, the road leading to Vera Cruz and Buena Vista in the upper right corner, and situated on the left side under Lake (Laguna) Tezcoco are Chapultepec, Molino del Ray, Churubusco, Contreras and the Field of Lava (Pedregal). This map shows the indirect routes taken to Mexico City by the American troops under General Scott and his Generals Smith, Worth and Quitman, positions of Santa Anna, as well as locations and dates of the battles (denoted by crossed swords, for example August 20th near San Antonio).
