Apuntes Para La Historia de la Guerra entre Mexico Y Los Estados-Unidos: General Taylor

A lithograph portrait of U. S. military leader General Zachary Taylor. Taylor was first sent to southern Texas during its annexation under the orders of President James Knox Polk and was in charge of the Army of Occupation. He then played a major role in the early battles and moves of the war the north including Palo Alto, Resaca de la Palma, Matamoros and Camargo, Monterey, and Buena Vista. After returning from Mexico, Taylor accepted the Whig nomination for U.S. President and won the election of 1848.
