Apuntes Para La Historia de la Guerra entre Mexico Y Los Estados-Unidos: Plano del Pais situado al NE de la Ciudad de Matamoros 1846

A lithograph map of the country northeast of the city of Matamoras in 1846 from a Mexican perspective. The city of Matamoras appears below the zigzagging line of the Rio Bravo del Norte that runs across the map and leads to the gulf of Mexico on the right side of the map. Directly north of Matamoros and the river, is the Resaca de Guerrero which is annotated with crossed swords to denote the "sitio en donde fueron las acciones de guerra" or, site where the battle took place. There are many roads that cross this location, two of which lead northeast toward Palo Alto and another battle site denoted by crossed swords. This map provides the locations of the camp of General Taylor on May 15-16 north of the city of Matamoros, the camp of General Smith and the Louisianna volunteers on May 15-16 east of the city along the river and the camp of 600 men who arrived by the Brazo de Santiago by the mouth of the river (boca del rio) to Burrita also to the east of the city. The map also lists the roads to Reinosa to the west, Corpus Christi to the north, and Santa Isabel bordering the Lake of Padre Vallin to the east. [This lithograph map is from the book "Apuntes Para La Historia de la Guerra entre Mexico Y Los Estados-Unidos" edited by Los Redactores and illustrated by Plácido Blanco, between pages 48 and 49]
