Memoir descriptive of the march of a Division of the United States Army: Map Showing the Line of March of the Centre Division, Army of Mexico, under the Command of Brigadier General John E. Wool, from San Antonio De Bexar, in Texas, to Saltillo, Mexico.

A lithographed map showing the line of the march of the Centre Division under the command of Brigadier General John E. Wool from San Antonio de Bexar in Texas to Saltillo in Mexico. The reconnaissance for this map and information was completed by the topographical engineers Captain George Wurtz Hughes and Lieutenants Lorenzo Sitgreaves and William Buel Franklin. This map focuses on a route taken by the Centre Division rather than providing a full map of the country so most of the map is blank space. The lower left hand corner focuses on the Alamo de Parras and shows the roads that lead south toward Durango, Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi. The bottom portion of the map focuses on Mazapil and its surroundings, which include Agua Dulce, Concepcion, and Salado. The top of the map focuses on San Antonio de Bejar and the routes lead either toward the coast (Corpus Christi, and Palo Alto, Victoria, and Matamoros) on the right or are directed soutwest further into Mexico (passing through Monclova, Monterey, Saltillo and Mazapil). The right side of the map focuses on the Gulf of Mexico coast which highlights the location of Corpus Christi, the Aransas Pass, Brasos Santiago, and various tributary rivers such as the San Antonio River and the Rio Grande (to the point of Matamoros located in the lower right corner). [This lithograph map is from the book "Memoir Descriptive of the march of a division of the United States Army, under the command of Brigadier General John E. Wool, from San Antonio de Bexas, in Texas, to Saltillo, Mexio" by George W. Hughes, following page 67]
