Memoir descriptive of the march of a Division of the United States Army: Map Showing the Route of the Arkansas Regiment from Shreveport La. to San Antonio de Bexar Texas.

A lithograph map showing the route of the Arkansas Regiment from the Red River at Shreveport in Louisiana (in the northeast or upper right corner of the map) to San Antonio de Bexas in south Texas (in the southwest or lower left corner of the map) while also showing the major rivers and tributaries in the area. The vicintity of San Antonio de Bexar shows the locations of the four missions south of the town. The towns of Austin and Bastrop appear along the Colorado to the northeast. The Gulf of Mexico, Galveston, Houston, and San Jacinto are in the lower right corner of the map. The Arkansas regiment followed the Old San Antonio and Nacogdoches Road from east Texas heading southwest through Crockett. At a split in the road near Robbin's Ferry on the Trinity River (unlabeled) the regiment or at least a part took a more southerly route past Fanthorp's Inn, Washington-on-the-Brazos, Independence, Rutersville, La Grange, Gonzales, and Seguin before heading to San Antonio. The map also denotes a road running east from Austin through Bastrop, Rutersville, and San Felipe de Austin to Houston, Harrisburg, Lynchburg, Liberty, then heading northeast. [This lithograph map is from the book "Memoir Descriptive of the march of a division of the United States Army, under the command of Brigadier General John E. Wool, from San Antonio de Bexas, in Texas, to Saltillo, Mexio" by George W. Hughes, following page 67]
