Memoir descriptive of the march of a Division of the United States Army: Ruins of the Church of the Alamo, San Antonio De Bexar.

A lithograph print of the ruins of the the Alamo mission chapel at San Antonio de Bexar based upon a watercolor sketch by Sergeant Edward Everett of the First Illinois Volunteers. This image shows the facade of the building with an elaboratly carved and arched entryway but the roof of the building is no longer intact and the stonework of the building is crumbling. The now familiar pediment of the Alamo was a later addition not there when Everett drew it. [This lithograph is from the book "Memoir Descriptive of the march of a division of the United States Army, under the command of Brigadier General John E. Wool, from San Antonio de Bexas, in Texas, to Saltillo, Mexio" by George W. Hughes; see Ben Huseman, "Ruins of the Church of the Alamo, San Antonio de Bexar: No. 19," in Eyewitness to War?: Prints and Daguerreotypes of the Mexican War, 1846-1848. Sandweiss, Stewart, and Huseman. (Fort Worth, Texas: Amon Carter Museum, 1989), 133-134.] Everett's original sketch is now in the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth.
