The UTA Libraries Special Collections Department is seeking community donations of digital materials documenting the Texas Rangers’ 2023 World Series run and celebration.

The Texas Rangers’ 2023 season was a historic occasion in Arlington’s history. After being in Arlington for over 50 years, the Rangers won their first World Series, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays, the Baltimore Orioles, the Houston Astros, and the Arizona Diamondbacks to reach the pinnacle of the baseball world.

Throughout October 2023, Arlington and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex hosted numerous playoff games, watch parties, community gatherings and an estimated 700,000 people attended a victory parade.

UTA Libraries Special Collections is collecting digital materials to add to its permanent archival collections to help document this historical moment for the benefit of future generations.

Items of interest include digital photographs, videos, artwork and more relating to the Rangers’ playoff games, community gatherings, and celebrations. These materials will be preserved and made accessible through the UTA Libraries Digital Archive.

Donations are limited to digital or digitized materials, including events relating to the Rangers’ playoff run, the World Series and the surrounding celebrations. Examples of donations include but are not limited to:

  • Videos from the victory parade in Arlington.

  • Photographs from individual playoff games.

  • Fan-created digital artwork.

  • Photographs from the Arlington community at the height of the celebrations around the Rangers’ victory.

Community members can donate their materials to UTA Libraries Special Collections through this online form:
