Students gathered at the FabLab for the "FabLab Glass Decor" event on the first floor of the Central Library on Oct. 4.

This event gave hands-on experience, allowing students to create personalized glass decorations with guidance from instructors.

Before work began, instructors explained to the students about safety practices. This step ensured students knew how to properly handle materials and tools before decorating.

With safety ensured, the real fun began. Students let their creativity shine by choosing acrylic shapes as templates for designing prints on their glass pieces.

Heart shapes, stars, circles, squares, and others were available to spark inspiration. Various paint colors were also used to decorate the glass with customized designs.

Priya Lachu, a computer science major, stated this is her first-time making glass decor.

"I loved being able to make something unique to me," Priya said. "The whole process was enjoyable, from picking my acrylic shape to painting my design."

A grad student, Lakshman Lokesh, stated that the instructors made the glass decor process fun and easy to learn.

"I was worried I might mess up my piece, but they gave helpful guidance, so my piece turned out great," Lakshman said. "I can't wait to give it to my mom as a gift."

Tejaswini Nagandla, a grad student, shared the same thoughts as other workshop participants.

"It's much more meaningful to make something yourself than buying decor," Tejaswini said. "This is something I'll proudly display in my apartment."

The library anticipates hosting more arts and crafts events in the future. Opportunities like this allow students to de-stress, connect with peers, and expand their creativity in a fun environment.

If you missed out this time, don't worry. The library's next FabLab event, DIY Glass Suncatchers, is from Noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 11.   So come out to take part in the creativity and fun at the Central Library.
