The smell of hot chocolate and apple cider invited students to stop by the library's holiday craft party to take a break from exams and enjoy a moment of festive fun on Dec. 6.
The crafting party is the last campus event of the year before the holiday break begins after final exams wrap up on Dec. 13.
Students attending the event made a variety of holiday decorations for the occasion: wreaths with festive ribbons and ornaments, personalized tree decorations, bracelets made with beads and charms, and glittering ornaments for Christmas trees. These crafts added a personal touch to the holiday season.
The event offered an enjoyable way for students to embrace the holiday spirit before leaving campus for winter break.
Deepak Nadella, a computer science major, felt that making ornaments with her friends before heading home for the break was a great way to start the holiday season.
"It's nice to relax with crafts before final exams next week." Deepak said, "Making tree ornaments helped me unwind the exam stress."
Jessy Gaba, a grad student, said the crafting event was fun and allowed her to spend time with her friends making matching ornaments.
"We made glittery snowflake ornaments that will remind me of them while we are apart," Jessy said. "I want to hang those in my room."
Sarah Wick, a psychology major, stated that she made a handmade wreath during the holiday party.
"I'm hoping to surprise my mom with this handmade wreath," Sarah said. " She buys new decorations every Christmas, so I think she will love a homemade one this year."
Students left with various handmade decorations and memories.
As the last campus activity of the semester, it enabled students to get into the holiday spirit through arts and crafts.
We at UTA Libraries wish you a safe and fun holiday break with your family and friends. See you in the spring semester.
