Kevin Huynh reflects on his time as Graduate Research Assistant with The University of Texas at Arlington Libraries Open Educational Resources (OER) department. Over a span of two years Kevin believes he was able to acquire skills that helped him grow both academically and professionally.

While he graduated with a master's degree in business administration, he was drawn to the environment of the Libraries even as an undergraduate student.

Kevin thinks that he is part of the Libraries as much as it is a part of him.

“I believe the most valuable skill I have learned is versatility/flexibility” he says. He is certain that the skills he acquired as a GRA will be extremely useful in his career. Gaining hands on experience on tools like Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams and other technical aspects count towards those skills.

“Working with the Central Library, and UTA as a whole, has been a very rewarding experience that few other places can offer, especially as a UTA student.” For students who look forward to working on campus, he says, Central Library will foster all their needs as both student and worker.
