The "Makeover Your Space" event held at the UTA Central Library on Aug. 29 gave an outlet for students to unleash their creativity.
Students could make pillows, print tattoos, paint, create personal calendars, string art, yarn wall hangers, cork boards, and rope trinket baskets.
Jessica Williams, administrative coordinator with Creative Spaces and Services, stated the event helps build community within the library's walls.
"The Makeover Your Space event wasn't just about crafting but about making memories," Jessica said. "The event turnout was great; it reflected the student community's eagerness to participate in the arts and crafts."
Jessica observed as students worked side-by-side; it brought them together, where they could share a laugh or two as they made their art.
Throughout the workshop, staff were available to assist students in their crafts at each station.
Daniel Rodriguez, a computer science major, stated that the workshop gave students the opportunity to try something new.
"I expected painting to be my favorite, but I enjoyed pillow making the most." Daniel said, "I was surprised by the number of activities that were happening."
Zoe Smith, a freshman in psychology, was happy to discover the art of making yarn wall hangers.
"It was fun, and I can use this wall hanger to add a vibrant color to my dorm room," Zoe said. "I want to make more of them myself at my home."
If you missed the event, don't worry because UTA Libraries will host similar events in the future. Keep an eye out for upcoming events at the UTA library through the libraries’ website or social media pages.
It's important to remember that your creativity is limitless, and UTA Libraries is here to support you every step of the way.
