I would like to introduce Elle Covington, new Multidisciplinary Librarian for the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries! They have approximately nine years of experience in libraries and come to us from the University of Texas Libraries in Austin.

Alexandra Pirkle (AP): As a way of introducing yourself in this current environment, what piece of media (book/movie/TV show/album/etc.) would you say best represents yourself? Why?

Elle Covington (EC): This is such a hard question! I think I have to go with the book A Quick & Easy Guide to Queer and Trans Identities by Mady G. & J.R. Zuckerberg. It’s easily approachable, compassionate, and it instructs with enthusiasm and encouragement. It’s all about promoting empathy and understanding. Plus it’s a graphic novel filled with lots of fantasy imagery! Not only is it filled with things I love, it also serves a function I so often find myself serving.

AP: What three words best describe your personal aesthetic (e.g. cozy, eclectic, whimsical, vintage, etc.)?

EC: Casual, comfy, nonbinary.

AP: What makes you most excited to work for UTA Libraries?

EC: I am very excited to be working at an institution with such an amazingly diverse student body. And of course, with all of my wonderful new colleagues at UTA Libraries. 😊

AP: What is something about you that others would be surprised to know?

EC: I have a seminary degree. (My life has taken a few twists and turns 🙃)

Thank you, Elle! We are excited to have you on board.
