Meet John Bayhi, New Health Sciences Librarian
I would like to introduce John Bayhi, new Health Sciences Librarian at the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries. He comes to us from the University of Oklahoma - Tulsa and has five years of experience in higher education.
Alexandra Pirkle (AP): As a way of introducing yourself in this current environment, what piece of media (book/movie/TV show/album/etc.) would you say best represents yourself? Why?
John Bayhi (JB): Hmmm... interesting question. I would say maybe the Aaron Sorkin TV show, The West Wing. At times, it is serious and at times, it is hilarious (often in a self-deprecating way).
AP: What three words best describe your personal aesthetic (e.g. cozy, eclectic, whimsical, vintage, etc.)?
JB: Modern, minimalist, Martha Stewart (that last one is from a now six-years-old BuzzFeed quiz. Now that I've figured this out, does it mean I can be an Instagram influencer?).
AP: Since you are new(ish) to Texas, what Texas-specific things are you most excited to try?
JB: I have lived in Beaumont, Texas before, but this is my first time living in the DFW area. I am excited to check out, once open and safe, all of the museums in the area. I've been to the Dallas Zoo but haven't made it to the Ft. Worth one before, so that's also on the list.
AP: What makes you most excited to work for UTA Libraries?
JB: Everyone I have met in this process has been so nice and welcoming. I am excited to be working with all the great people at UTA Libraries.
AP: What is something about you that others would be surprised to know?
JB: I used to drive monorails for a living.
Thank you, John! We are excited to have you on board.
