I would like to introduce Kathryn Slover, new Digital Archivist for the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries Special Collections! She comes to us from the South Carolina Department of Archives and History and has four years of experience working in archives.

Alexandra Pirkle (AP): As a way of introducing yourself in this current environment, what piece of media (book/movie/TV show/album/etc.) would you say best represents yourself? Why?

Kathryn Slover (KS): Oh this is tough! I think I would have to pick Parks and Recreation. Leslie Knope and her team are always trying to help people, despite all of the chaotic and sometimes hilarious challenges they face.

AP: What three words best describe your personal aesthetic (e.g. cozy, eclectic, whimsical, vintage, etc.)?

KS: Comfortable, neat, quirky.

AP: Since you are new to Texas, what Texas-specific things are you most excited to try?

KS: I have driven through Texas several times but never really stopped to explore any of the historical sites so once it is safe to do so I look forward to checking those out. I am also excited to try all the good food options!

AP: What makes you most excited to work for UTA Libraries?

KS: I am excited to work in such a collaborative and innovative environment!

AP: What is something about you that others would be surprised to know?

KS: I own a sparring grade lightsaber.

Thank you, Kathryn! We are excited to have you on board.

Kathryn - SO HAPPY to have you on board! Plus, we actually hold a SEAC event for Star Wars day on May the 4th. Can't wait to see your lightsaber in person one day! :) "You got this!" ~Leslie Knope
