Meet Leyla Bunster, New USS Library Specialist
I would like to introduce Leyla Bunster, new Library Specialist for the User Success and Services department of the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries! She previously worked for UTA Libraries Special Collections for a year.
Alexandra Pirkle (AP): As a way of introducing yourself in this current environment, what piece of media (book/movie/TV show/album/etc.) would you say best represents yourself? Why?
Leyla Bunster (LB): I would have to say that Isabel Allende’s book, Mujeres del Alma Mía, is a book that best represents me. I love Allende’s work, and in this book, she tells her life story and addresses topics that are important to me.
AP: What three words best describe your personal aesthetic (e.g. cozy, eclectic, whimsical, vintage, etc.)?
LB: Cozy, vintage, and classic.
AP: What makes you most excited to work for UTA Libraries?
LB: One of my favorite things about working at UTA is the opportunity I will have to help students. As a recent UTA graduate, I recognize the importance of having helpful resources in the Libraries to ensure that students can succeed academically and professionally. UTA librarians and staff provided those resources for me, and I hope to provide the same support for our students.
AP: What is something about you that others would be surprised to know?
LB: I planned and mapped out a road trip through Bavaria to visit all of King Ludwig’s castles in 2017. I was fascinated by the king’s personal story, and I just had to see his castles.
Thank you, Leyla! We are excited to have you on board in this position.
