Meet Stephanie Luke, New Metadata Librarian
I would like to introduce Stephanie Luke, new Metadata Librarian for Special Collections at the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries. She comes to us from the Indiana University-Bloomington and has three years of experience in libraries.
Alexandra Pirkle (AP): As a way of introducing yourself in this current environment, what piece of media (book/movie/TV show/album/etc.) would you say best represents yourself? Why?
Stephanie Luke (SL): I couldn’t possibly choose one book to describe me, but I love the TV show Bob’s Burgers. I feel like its quirky style of humor is very similar to my own.
AP: What three words best describe your personal aesthetic (e.g. cozy, eclectic, whimsical, vintage, etc.)?
SL: Cozy, warm, comfortable. I like to be surrounded by friends, books, and my two literary cats, Wilkie Collins and Annabel Lee.
AP: What makes you most excited to work for UTA Libraries?
SL: As an avid cataloger, I’m just so thrilled to start creating records for all the materials in the SPCO backlog.
AP: Since you are new to Texas, what Texas-specific things are you most excited to try?
SL: There are so many things that I’m looking forward to. As soon as the stay-at-home orders are lifted, I am looking forward to shopping for cowboy boots. I’m a huge fan of history, so I want to visit San Antonio, the Alamo, and other “Texasy” places. I have also heard great things about the Fort Worth zoo and the Dallas Public Library. I am just excited to explore the area, so if there are any experiences any of you would recommend, please let me know.
AP: What is something about you that others would be surprised to know?
SL: I was a figure skater for 12 years.
Thank you, Stephanie! We are happy to have you on board.
