Alexandra Pirkle (AP): As a way of introducing yourself in this current environment, what piece of media (book/movie/TV show/album/etc.) would you say best represents yourself? Why?

Whitney Russell (WR): This is hard. I have a lot of favorites, but I'm not sure if any single thing really represents me. I have very eclectic music Tates, my all-time favorite book is Wuthering Heights, I love Harry Potter, and my favorite tv series is probably One Tree Hill. I guess I'm a romantic and I like fantasy?

AP: What three words best describe your personal aesthetic (e.g. cozy, eclectic, whimsical, vintage, etc.)?

WR: Practical, floral, comfortable.

AP: Since you are new to Texas, what Texas-specific things are you most excited to try?

WR: I have lived in Texas before, but this is my first time in the DFW area. I'm excited to explore what the area has to offer once things are safe to open up, especially the zoos and water parks.

AP: What makes you most excited to work for UTA Libraries?

WR: I'm really excited to see the projects that the library is working on. I've always been interested in digital projects, so being able to help out with the metadata for them will be a lot of fun. I'm also excited to see the maker space, and how the students use it.

AP: What is something about you that others would be surprised to know?

WR: I moved around a lot growing up. I was born in Alaska, and have lived in every southern state except two.

Thank you, Whitney! We are excited to have you on board.
