Ensuring that resources are in the right place and accessible is how Sandra Navarro describes her role at UTA Libraries. In November, Sandra joined the library staff as a library specialist with stacks management.

“I had worked at the Fort Worth Central Library as a page and did the same thing I do here where I was in charge of shipping out the books, bringing them in and taking them out. I loved that environment and was looking for something like that again,” Sandra said. “Coming to UTA has been really wonderful. Everyone has been super kind and welcoming, which has been great.”

Sandra shared that she is a very passionate reader who enjoys learning new things and getting lost in the story and its characters. Her love of reading is one factor that drew Sandra to work for a library.

“I like nonfiction, which is what I have been currently reading. Other times, I flip genres and need something concrete to put me in a different kind of headspace. That can be in a fiction world where I can put myself in the character’s shoes,” Sandra said. “I just read what I am currently feeling at the moment.”

Books are not just the only vehicle of travel for Sandra. Outside the office, she enjoys exploring the world and traveling to different parts of the country and Mexico.

“Recently, my most recent trip was to Utah, where I went to see the Moab Arches. Beautiful state. I definitely want to go back again soon,” she said. “One of the next trips would be to the New England area, visiting upstate New York, Maine and Connecticut in the fall. Specifically in the fall.”

Sandra expressed her thanks for the warm welcome and the help she had received getting settled in her new job at the library.

We are happy to have you as a part of our team here at UTA Libraries, Sandra, and look forward to what you will accomplish in your time with us. Welcome to campus.
