A warm smile and a hearty welcome are the greetings guests receive from UTA Libraries’ newest staff member Quentin Scott. Quentin serves as a library specialist with the Guest Services team on the first floor.

Before coming to the library, Quentin worked in several fields, from banking to fine arts to real estate. Quentin feels that his diverse background will aid in creating the best possible library experience for patrons and employees.

When people walk through the front doors, Quentin and his team stand ready to help with any question or need.

“We are the first person you meet before you do basic tech lending like checking out a laptop, which is one of the most popular services,” Quentin said. “We also help people with questions, or we will refer them to the right people.”

As a library specialist, Quentin and his team oversee the operations on the first and second floors to ensure that circulation services work smoothly. They work to connect patrons with the resource they need, whether it is in the FabLab or up on the sixth floor in the Special Collections Department.

Quentin stated that he values the collaborative atmosphere that the library fosters, where people work together to get the best possible outcome. He noted that this positivity is sometimes present in the private sector, but, in his experience, it seems governed by a competitive atmosphere.

“I have always worked in customer service or sales positions throughout my career,” Quentin said. “Not having to focus on turning a profit or sales goals has opened my horizons to think about primarily how we can help students have access to quality resources.”

Quentin said he’s received a warm reception since joining the team here at UTA Libraries in March. He shared that it is great to be supported and give feedback to make the experience at the library even better for everyone.

‘I am really excited to be here,” he said. “I can’t wait to see where the opportunity at the library takes me.”

We feel the same! Welcome aboard Quentin.
