Storytelling can be done by using words, taking photos or shooting videos. Damian Lane tells the stories of UTA Libraries through eye-catching graphics in his role as the senior graphic designer.

Damian recently joined the library a few months ago after serving two years in a remote capacity with an advertising agency, EP+Co, based out of Greenville, South Carolina.

He is excited about the new challenges, opportunities, and being a part of the community here on campus.

"So far, it has been great. Being remote, I didn't have that face-to-face interaction or have someone like DeAndre Morris (Marketing and Communications Director), whom I consider a mentor and a creative coach," Damian said. "It is great having that interaction with him, fellow staff and student workers. The summer has been a good preview to the fall semester."

Senior Graphic Designer Damian Lane works on a project in the UTA Libraries Marketing and Communications Department.

As the senior graphic designer, Damian's work spans several areas, including print products, the library website and social media pages.

With each project, Damian ensures they conform to the university's branding guidelines to create a uniform message when reaching out to the community.

Outside of the library, Damian uses his talents to help small up-and-coming musical artists.

"I still do a lot of freelance work for local artists from the Dallas area. I still work with some friends in Los Angles that are in the music industry," he said. "If they need an album cover or a single cover for the music they are releasing, I will knock something out that will work for them."

While work is important to Damian, it is not the sole focus of his life. His time outside of the office is spent with his family.

He met his wife, Christina, online while they were in middle school and started an online friendship corresponding for over 10 years while he lived in St. Louis and she in San Antonio.

The two decided to meet as Christina passed through Waco, Damian's home at the time, on her way to Fort Worth. Three years later, they married in 2019. Their family has grown, adding a daughter, Zola, and a son who is due to arrive this year before Thanksgiving on Nov. 13.

"Right now, much of my free time is given to my daughter. Whatever she has going on, if it is swim class or soccer, I'm there," Damian said. "I'm making sure she is getting the attention she needs and preparing for the new addition to the family."

Damian, we are happy to have you as our family at UTA Libraries. We look forward to how your talents can add to the fabric of our community at the university.
